Police union joins lawsuit against governor over pay cut
Moments after the state's teacher's union filed a lawsuit against the governor, attorney general and head of the Department of Management Services, the Florida Police Benevolent Association has filed a motion seeking join in the case.
The motion was filed on behalf of an Orange County deputy sheriff as a corrections office in the Department of Corrections who argue they have a compelling interest in the outcome of the case. Download PBA's Motion to Intervene[1]
"The next step in the process is consideration of a motion for preliminary injunction filed by the plaintiffs which seeks to prohibit full implementation of the FRS retirement amendments during the pendency of the lawsuit,'' said Matt Puckett, PBA executive director in a statement to members. "At the present time, the motion has not been set for hearing, but with the July 1st implementation date for the deduction, the motion should be heard within the next two weeks."
